The Independence Rotary Club presented the Community
Services League's Executive Director, Sue Crumpton,
$2,000 for their Work Express Program. These funds will
go towards their Work Express program which helps
people find work.

CRITERIA FOR GRANTS
The purpose of the project must meet The Four Way Test
  • Applications from agencies and groups, rather than individuals, are given priority since
    this permits our resources much broader coverage
  • A variety of smaller grants are preferred rather than fewer larger grants
  • Rotary International projects will always be considered
  • Projects of the Rotary Club of Independence and projects in which Rotary Members are
    involved will be given priority attention
  • Applications from the geographical area of the Rotary Club of Independence are
    preferred over applicants from other areas
  • Applications must contain complete information about the project, its leadership,
    finances (current annual report), timetable, and expected results. The committee will
    complete its deliberation in a timely manner an submit its recommendations to the
    board of directors for their action

Independence Rotary presented a check for $1,000 to
Diana Castillo, Resource & Communications Director,
from the
Child Abuse Prevention Association.

Rotary presented $1,000 the Boy Scouts to provide
uniforms and equipment for youths who's families can
not afford to buy them.
The club has helped Friends United provide resources for
teachers in Honduras.
Shoes for Orphans

In Spring 2008 the Club was able to purchase 317 pairs
of shoes for orphans.
Mother's Refuge

May 20, 2008, John Kimak presented Robert Zornes,
Executive Director of Mother's Refuge, a check for $1,500
which will be used to make some repairs and
improvements.
